Work in practice

01 / Research prototype

Agricultural IoT Deployment Tools

Making farm sensor networks usable without a technical background.

A conversation about my passion for software development with Dr. Dennis Buckmaster led to an invitation to join Purdue’s IoT4Ag research team, without a formal application. I’m grateful for the generous paid opportunity and supportive lab environment, and I love putting that passion into practice.

As a research assistant, I work on RING, the Remote IoT4Ag Network Gateway. My focus is making agricultural sensor networks easier for people without a technical background to deploy and use. I’m developing guided setup tools and a shared dashboard that brings readings from multiple sensors together, helping farmers understand conditions on their farms and make informed decisions.

CampusFound

I saw the gaps. I built a better system.

Working as a Purdue Building Manager, I saw gaps in how lost-and-found items and requests were tracked. Nobody assigned me the project. I built CampusFound on my own initiative because I wanted a better way to connect people with their belongings.

The software brings item records, search, and request tracking into one place. It is now used across Purdue Memorial Union, Stewart Center, and Krach Leadership Center.

Server Administration & Self-Hosted Infrastructure

Operating the infrastructure behind my websites and services.

I deploy and manage Ubuntu Linux servers hosting my personal websites and more than 30 services. Docker Compose organizes the containers, while reverse proxies, VPNs, and Cloudflare Tunnels support access to selected applications.

Grafana and Prometheus provide monitoring and alerting for metrics and logs. Scripts automate backups to AWS, and I manage networking through Tailscale, custom routing, and DNS.

ARC Operations Software

Connecting operational records across a water-treatment business.

Across two summer internships, I worked on software supporting ARC Water Treatment's operational workflows. In 2025, I led a seven-person team building an integrated system for procurement, inventory, sales, and accounting, including automation and anomaly detection.

I returned in 2026 to build additional internal workflows and launch arc.aboutsharma.com, focusing on digital records and transaction tracking.
